INFORMATION/ INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

Information/instructional design is the distinct planning of specific information, which is appointed to a particular audience to meet an objective. The information designer may create an information composition which entitles the overall pattern or structure. Hence, it can be simply defined as the preparation of information so that all consumers can use with efficiency and capability.Information design also organizes data into information for users which is produced in a systematic format. The structuring is allocated in categories such as hierarchies, time, alphabet and location. This will then benefit the users by finding specific information in a recognizable structure.
Some of its aims are to develop documents that are understandable and obtainable to translate into effective action. Information/instructional design may be processed by analysing the problem, selecting an objective, developing suitable materials, implementing instructional materials and evaluate the procedure.

INTERACTIVE DESIGN

INTERACTIVE DESIGN?

Interactive design is the expertise of assisting or instigating all types of interactions between humans, treated by products. It is implicated with the conventions of products – but at the same time reinforcing interactions between humans. The products an interaction designer produces are digital as well as analogue and physical. It is a systematic and cyclic process for designing highly correlative networks. These methods include research and discovery techniques such as;

  • Requirements analysis
  • Stakeholder analysis
  • Task analysis
  • Prototyping
  • Inspections
  • Evaluation methods

Therefore all interactive designers should commence their design from a sound knowledge of how and why the consumer aims to use it, also maintaining the ideal purpose of how the product and service will instigate the human relationship and their recognition.

WEB 2.0

http://www.edtechvision.org/

Web 2.0 may be referred as the second generation of the Internet, which allows people to contribute and share information online in ways that were not obtainable. Web 2.0 may also be defined as a part of globalization- allowing worldwide information available to the more local, communal perspective. Web 2.0 allows people the flexibility to; find, share and create information locally.

Therefore it's integrating the global with the local. This generation of web is about new boundaries, extending the interface of searching and accessing web content as well as being a platform for students, media, politics and everyone else.

What are some great examples of this Web 2.0 approach?

Web 2.0 has evolved and improved over time and now offers better and more up to date services like – blogs, wiki’s, social networking, as well as communication tools and folksonomies. Throughout this research I came across a great Web 2.0 site -Andale.com. This is a site which analyses sales information from eBay and provides it to users, who will then be able to benefit from the auction site. Another fascinating Web 2.0 feature is HousingMaps.com, this site is classified as a real estate ad which is combined with another site- Google Maps. HousingMaps.com gives the viewers ability to quickly view a satellite map of the exact address.
All of these web applications have produced an advantage that develops on existing information, data and services and expands the information in ways not intended by the primary creators.
